Welcome to Uneven Life Coaching!
We provide one-on-one, peer-led coaching services for
those who struggle with life, anxiety, and/or the
complications of anxiety medication including
benzodiazepine dependence, withdrawal, and BIND.

d e foster

D E Foster is the Founder and Executive Director of Uneven Life, host of the Benzo Free and Uneven podcasts, and author of the book "Benzo Free." Over the past decade, he has aided over a thousand individuals through the complications associated with chronic anxiety and benzo withdrawal (BIND).
An active medical researcher, D has several published peer-reviewed papers to his credit, including co-authoring the 2024 ground-breaking study on BIND. He was also a panelist for the development of the 2025 ASAM Joint Clinical Guideline on Benzodiazepine Tapering.

D's coaching style is goal-oriented but flexible, focused on helping his clients find the path that best suits them and their current condition. He is a co-founder and former co-chair of the Benzodiazepine Action Work Group (BAWG) where he was project lead and pilot co-instructor for the Recovery from Benzodiazepines for Peer Specialists course. He also holds a certificate in Peer Recovery Training from Choices Training. ​
​D has struggled with anxiety much of his life. He took clonazepam (Klonopin) for 12 years as prescribed by his physician, tapered for 18 months, and has been benzo-free since 2014. He has healed significantly from his ordeal, but still deals with the lingering effects of BIND.

Standard sessions can be scheduled from 2 days - 30 days in advance. Urgent sessions are scheduled from 3 hours - 48 hours in advance.

rachel mascaro, cpss
Rachel Mascaro is the Managing Director of Uneven and has partnered with D.E. Foster on its evolution since the community launched in October 2024. She is a Certified Peer Support
Specialist (CPSS) specializing in benzodiazepine tapering, withdrawal, post-discontinuation care, and the deeper work of rebuilding life after medication harm.
Rachel’s coaching is grounded in formal peer training and more than thirty years of firsthand experience with psychiatric medications. Her work is informed by specialized education focused specifically on benzodiazepine discontinuation, including Recovery from Benzodiazepines for Peer Specialists, a course developed by the Benzodiazepine Action Work Group and the Colorado Consortium, as well as the full Certified Recovery Support Worker (CRSW) training curriculum. Her approach is practical, individualized, and grounded in the realities of medication injury and the complexity of healing.​

Rachel’s earlier professional background includes direct care, peer mental health support, and family coaching. These experiences continue to inform her presence and perspective in the coaching relationship.

Here are some answers to a few common questions about coaching.

When did Uneven Life start coaching? Why?

Uneven Life's coaching program officially kicked off August 20, 2025. Several people have requested that we add coaching to our services, and the truth is, it was part of our plan since the beginning.​

Does your program utilize coaching software?

Yes. Uneven Life uses "Coach Accountable" software to help manage our practice. This software provides several tools to facilitate the coaching experience which can be used at the coach's discretion.

​What is your cancellation policy?

​To respect everyone’s time, we require cancellations or rescheduling at least 48 hours in advance of your scheduled session. If you cancel or reschedule with less than 48 hours’ notice, or fail to attend a session, you will be charged the full session fee. We appreciate your understanding as this allows us to maintain availability for all clients.​

What if I need help immediately?

Urgent sessions are available for established clients and can be scheduled between 2-48 hours in advance, based on availability. New clients are not eligible for urgent sessions. These sessions do incur a higher rate. ​​
