At Uneven Life, one of the communities we’ve begun reaching out to is the addiction and recovery community.
The response has been truly heartening; people were remarkably open and eager to talk. Many of them already understood dependence on some level, but they often lacked deeper knowledge about withdrawal symptoms and especially benzodiazepine-induced neurological dysfunction (BIND). This gap in understanding became very clear during our conversations.
Because of that disconnect, we’ve made a deliberate effort to work with the organizations and media outlets in this community to help raise awareness. The results so far have been extremely positive and encouraging.
Jasmine Bootle is one of those amazing people. She gets it. Her popular podcast, "Everyone is Addicted," focuses on the real, and raw, experience of addiction. A few weeks ago, Jasmine was kind enough to invite me on her show. We had a wonderful conversation and this past week she released the audio recording and a few video shorts on YouTube.
