If so, you are in good company. Relationships are complicated enough. Add anxiety and the virus to the mix, and we have a recipe for distress. Thankfully, we can improve things. For today’s video, “10 Anxiety Tips for Dealing with Relationships during COVID,” I checked in with a half-dozen experts, mixed in a parade of video clips, and came up with these ten tips on relationships and anxiety. Who knows, maybe a couple of them just may help. I hope you enjoy this video, and have a great day, D 😊 Video ID: EA020 Watch the Video Chapters 00:00 Introduction 03:44 10) Expand Your Support System 04:45 9) Keep a Routine 06:50 8) Understand Your Anxiety… 09:17 7) Check Anger Levels 10:54 6) Have Fun 13:00 5) Allow Opposing Opinions 17:17 4) Speak Up 19:27 3) Alone Time 21:15 2) Grace and Gratitude 23:08 1) Keep a Routine 24:29 Closing References Burns, David D. • New FDA Warning on Benzodiazepines: What Does It Really Mean?

This past Wednesday, September 23, 2020, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a new boxed warning for benzodiazepines, the most common class of anti-anxiety medication which includes Xanax, Klonopin, Ativan, Valium, and many others. This announcement warns of serious risks of abuse, addiction, physical dependence, and withdrawal reactions from these drugs. It’s a significant announcement, and one that’s left the benzo community abuzz. But what does this communication really mean? What is an FDA boxed warning? What triggered this warning? Does this warning really change anything? I spent that past couple of days reviewing the FDA communication and some of the media coverage around it, and I might have found a few answers. And of course, a few opinions. I hope it helps. • Announcing the Launch of Our New Website — EasingAnxiety.com

October 8th, 2020 — Easing Anxiety (ea) announces the launch of their brand new website: EasingAnxiety.com. This site is dedicated to helping people live better lives with their anxiety and it provides a wealth of information in a variety of mediums including informational videos, relaxation videos, podcast episodes, articles, personal vlogs, resources, and much more. The focus of ea is on general anxiety, chronic anxiety and its disorders, anxiety tips and tools, and anxiety medication including dependence and withdrawal. About Easing Anxiety We are a community of people who struggle with anxiety — helping each other. Although this organization was initially created and started by one person, our true goal has always been to grow and expand with the support and help of our community. Many people contributed their time and money to help us get here, and its success is due to their kindness and dedication. Easing Anxiety began as a YouTube channel in early 2020 as an offshoot of Benzo Free, a centralized hub of information for those struggling with anti-anxiety medication and the long-term effects of its use. Benzo Free is also home of the Benzo Free Podcast which is now on its 70th episode and has been going strong since February 2019. But why the transition to Easing Anxiety? Well, as the Podcast gained more listeners, I noticed that even though our primary focus was on benzodiazepines, dependence, and withdrawal, most of what we talked about, and struggled with, was anxiety. Benzodiazepines are anti-anxiety drugs after all — so I guess it made sense. People started to listen to the podcast who had never taken a benzo in their lives, but just wanted help with their anxiety. And thus, long-story short, Easing Anxiety was born. Benzo Free, including all its content and the Podcast, will be transitioned into the new site in the coming months. What are the benefits of the new website? One of the advantages of the new website is that unlike Benzo Free, it was built as a blog-based platform from the ground up. This makes the website simpler, cleaner, and more versatile. All of the content (videos, articles, resources, FAQs, book reviews, etc.) is database-driven, and completely categorized and searchable. This allows the user to quickly find content based on keyword inquires and topic listings. Some parts of the website are still under development including features such as Anxiety Stories, Book Reviews, FAQs, and others. The ea site is always growing and we look forward to adding to its functionality and content for many years to come. We Need Your Help Easing Anxiety is only as good as the time and effort put into it. Thus, we need your help. If you have any suggestions or content to add, let us know. New resources? Questions for our FAQ? Book recommendations? Articles to review? Stories to share? Or if you find any problems such as glitches, omissions, grammar issues, or any other issues with the site, you can always reach us via our feedback form. Your feedback is essential to us, and we thank you. Thanks for taking a look at our new website and we hope you enjoy it. Take care and be at peace, D 🙂

  • Benzo Mornings: Anxiety, Symptoms, and Loneliness

Benzo withdrawal is personal. It’s intimate. And most of all, it can be very isolating. Fear and loneliness are pervasive in withdrawal and we frequently crave understanding, compassion, and connection. But does it really have to be that way? In today’s episode, I share my thoughts and struggles with anxiety, symptoms, fear, and loneliness from a recent road trip to Kansas City. We also have a question about hypochondria, a story from California, and a brief discussion about the loss of social skills. BENZO STORY Benzodiazepine Information Coalition (BIC) Introduction Today’s intro was short. I spoke briefly about a new symptom of mine, TMJ, and explored the loss of social skills some of us may face as we heal from benzo withdrawal. Mailbag In today’s mailbag we explored a question from Chris in Melbourne, Australia about hypochondria and the insatiable quest for answers about our ongoing parade of symptoms. Benzo Story Today’s story is one of hope from Kim in California. Feature Today’s feature is a unique one. I share my thoughts and struggles during those alone times on the road. It’s almost become a tradition here on the Benzo Free Podcast, that when I take a road trip I record my musings from the road, from the hotel rooms, and from those difficult mornings we all face. And this recent trip to Kansas City a couple of weeks back, was no different. In today’s feature, I discuss the consistent loneliness and isolation we face, especially when we are without, or away from, those we love. I also talk about the lack of true understanding from those around us for what the experience of benzo withdrawal is truly like, the mistakes I’ve made along the way, and the habits many of us practice which isolate us and even push others away just when we need them the most. The Podcast The Benzo Free Podcast provides information, support, and community to those who struggle with the long-term effects of anxiety medications such as benzodiazepines (Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, Valium) and Z-drugs (Ambien, Lunesta, Sonata). Recorded Thursday, November 12th, 2020 Do you have questions about anxiety? About benzos and withdrawal? About your symptoms and possible remedies? About tips, tricks, and treatments to help you feel better? Or perhaps you just want to say hi. Whether you have been listening to the Benzo Free Podcast for months — or just recently discovered our Easing Anxiety videos — I hope you will stop by on Thursday and chat. Since this is our very first live video, I’m not really sure how this will go. Either way, I hope you enjoy it and find some information within to help ease your struggles. • Anxiety and the Quest for Success (VLOG)

What really makes us happy? What truly eases our stress and anxiety? Do the answers lie in fame, fortune, and success? Or might they be part of the problem instead. Perhaps our eternal quest for power and money is not the cure-all we believe it to be, but instead some mythic obsession that often leads to disappointment and disillusion. And, if success is not the remedy for our angst and anxiety, then what is? What are the alternatives? In today’s VLOG, I share a few thoughts about anxiety and our insatiable quest for success. I also share a couple of comments from you and provide a few updates about our content and channels. I hope you enjoy it.
